The Alcohol/Substance Abuse Counseling Certificate Program is a 31-credit program designed to prepare students for entry-level employment or to enhance current employment within the addictions field. This certificate provides an academic and experiential foundation for skill development and ethical practice in the field of addiction. All the credit hours earned in the Alcohol/Substance Abuse Certificate Program are applicable to the Human Services A.A.S. Degree Program. As of May 1, 2014 this certificate is accepted by the New York State Office of Alcoholism & Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) covering 310 training hours that can be utilized toward the Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) Application. The Human Services (HUS) Program is a partial provider of OASAS training. NOTICE: Students who were enrolled in certificate coursework prior to September 1, 2013, and complete the certificate, may be awarded 350 hours of training toward the Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) Application.
