Human Services agencies require employees to be knowledgeable in Substance Abuse Counseling. Substance Abuse providers expect counselors to become certified. The Wake Tech Substance Abuse certificate program provides a path to Substance Abuse certification.
The Substance Abuse certificate consists of course work which includes classroom & experiential activities oriented toward an overview of chemical dependency, counseling skills, assessment, the twelve Core Functions, intervention techniques with individuals and groups, and treatment modalities.
Wake Tech offers the Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree in Human Services Technology, with concentrations in Human Services or Substance Abuse. Individuals who already have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a human services-related field may enroll in the Substance Abuse Certificate program to pursue certification through the North Carolina Substance Abuse Professional Practice Board (NCSAPPB).
