LEARNING OBJECTIVES Define “rural” and describe the increasing diversity of rural communities. Examine the complications of accessing behavioral health prevention, intervention, and treatment services in rural communities and the role of pre-service educators. Examine effective strategies for addressing barriers to expanding access to care, including telehealth. Review resources to assist higher education professionals in preparing the future rural workforce.
