3-4:00 PM EST Mass incarceration along with high recidivism rates are critical issues in the United States of America, but what is even more critical, are the racial disparities found within these recidivism rates. Much of the recidivism is caused by mental health disorders such as trauma, depression and addiction. As counselors and counselor educators, we must determine what our role is in battling this crisis.
